Suzie Kuhnen, DO

Central Iowa's only female plastic surgeon

Suzie grew up as a small-town girl in West Mansfield, Ohio. She completed her undergraduate at the University of Dayton and medical school at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. She completed her five-year general surgery residency at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, PA. Suzie then moved to Des Moines, IA to continue her training with a three-year plastic surgery fellowship at Mercy Medical Center.

After completing her fellowship in 2017, she joined Iowa Specialty Surgeons and is the only female plastic surgeon in Central Iowa. Suzie is eager to serve the community in any way she can and looks forward to meeting you! She desires to help you feel more confident in yourself, whether it be with reconstructive surgery after breast cancer or massive weight loss, skin care or cosmetic surgery.

In her personal time, Dr Kuhnen is a member of the West Des Moines chamber of commerce. She is active in charitable organizations such as Youth Homes of Mid-America and the O’Donnell & Friends Open.
